US Providing $2.0 Million in Essential Road Equipment to Ministry of Public Works

On Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., Ambassador Donald E. Booth signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Public Works that outlines the use of critically-needed road maintenance equipment. All of the equipment valued at two million USD, will be place for the Government of Liberia to fully commence road repairs at the start of the next dry season. This equipment investment is evidence of he continued commitment to the Liberian people by the people of the United States of America through USAID and the Liberian Community Infrastructure Program (LCIP) for use by the Liberian Ministry of Public Works.
Currently four out of the 15 pieces of equipment are located at the Ministry of Public Works, including Caterpillar motor grader, two front end loaders and a backhoe loader. Over the next few months the remaining Caterpillar equipment will be delivered.
