A New Year’s Message from Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield

December 29, 2011

On behalf of the American government and people, I wish all Liberians from Lofa to Maryland County and the entire breadth of Liberia a happy, healthy, peaceful and a prosperous New Year!

As we reflect on 2011 and celebrate the beginning of 2012, Liberians have so much to be thankful for but we know much more work needs to be done to bring the benefits of peace to all Liberians.  2011 was indeed eventful for Liberia in many ways.  Among the most notable are the recently concluded free and fair elections – a great achievement in which all Liberians should take pride.  In addition, the names of two Liberians were added to the roster of international Nobel Peace Laureate – a proud moment for all Liberians.  My congratulations to the awardees and to the people of Liberia.

As we ring in 2012, let us take joy in our successes but roll up our sleeves to work together to consolidate and continue the progress that has been made in Liberia.  Let us mark yet another year of great efforts and successes that focus on meeting political, social, and economic challenges in order to improve the quality of life of all Liberians.  Together and united, we can accomplish so much more to create a peaceful world in which we all thrive and live in harmony.
