The United States Embassy in Monrovia offers appointments for nonimmigrant (visiting) visas on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Nonimmigrant visas are appropriate for any individual seeking to temporarily visit the United States. This may include travel for business or tourism, medical treatment, education or research, religious work, official government business or other temporary reasons.
All visitors to the United States Embassy – including visa applicants – must pass through security screening. Because of the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Liberia, visa applicants will be screened for symptoms of EVD and any visitor exhibiting symptoms of EVD will be required to leave the consular section. Procedures are in place to allow Embassy guards to screen visitors safely and to protect themselves, other visitors, and the Embassy community. Visa applicants who are asked to leave the Embassy grounds due to Ebola concerns should contact the Consular Section to discuss possible rescheduling of the visa appointment.
