How To Apply
Appointments
Nonimmigrant visa appointments are offered Monday and Wednesday mornings, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. In order to make an appointment, applicants will first need to pay their visa fees at any Ecobank location in Liberia. Once the fees are paid, applicants will be able to schedule their own appointment online or by calling 0776-234-999.
Application Process
The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, is required for ALL nonimmigrant visas and must be completed online via the Consular Electronic Application Center. This application form can be filled out before or after you schedule a visa appointment, but it must be filled out at least two hours prior to your visa interview.
Interview
On the day of your interview, nonimmigrant visa applicants should come to Gate 1 of the U.S. Embassy, which will open at 8:00 a.m. You must bring:
- A current passport (valid for at least six months after your interview date);
- Your DS-160 application confirmation page;
- Two passport size photos, 2in x 2in, with a white background;
- Any documents you want the consular officer to review regarding your case.
At the interview, you will be fingerprinted. Questions during the interview are not difficult and generally focus on details of your trip, your ties to Liberia, and your ability to pay for the travel.
In general, to qualify for a nonimmigrant visa, applicants must prove that they have a clear purpose of travel, that they can afford the costs of their trip and that they have clear and convincing ties outside the United States, such that they will depart the U.S. at the end of the scheduled trip.
