American Citizen Services

Welcome to American Citizen Services

American Citizen Services (ACS) is part of Consular Services, based at the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia.  Assistance is provided to American citizens residing in or visiting Liberia, including but not limited to Passport services, Consular Reports of Births Abroad, and Notarials. The Embassy also assists in emergency situations, including deaths, arrests and crisis situations.
Closed: The Embassy is closed for non-emergency services on weekends, U.S. and Liberian public holidays.

Registration for American Citizens   

U.S. citizens planning to visit and reside in Liberia should register with the Embassy. Registration will make your presence and whereabouts known in case it is necessary to contact you in an emergency. In accordance with the Privacy Act, information on your welfare and whereabouts may not be released without your express authorization.
You will need to fill out the online American Citizens Registration

An Examination Fee is applied for all first passports, all minor passports, a first 10 year passport at or after age 16, lost, stolen or mutilated passports, and renewals of passports that were issued more than 15 years ago. The fee is included in the above charges.
