Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program
The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program provides scholarships for high school students to spend up to one academic year in the U.S. The program is vital to expanding communication between the people of the United States and Liberia in order to promote mutual understanding and respect. Students live with a host family, attend a U.S. high school, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, acquire leadership skills, and help educate Americans about their countries and cultures.
PD operates the program in partnership with Liberia’s Ministry of Education and iEARN-Liberia, which coordinates student recruitment and orientation. To qualify for the program, students must be between the ages of 15-17 years, enrolled in 9th or 10th grade, and maintain a minimum “B” average.
