Culture and Exchange

The Cultural Section is responsible for suggesting opportunities for suitable U.S. speakers, professionals-in-residence, cultural specialists, and performing/visual artists to the Public Affairs Officer in order to advance Embassy objectives and other public diplomacy activities. This section also assists the Public Affairs Officer in identifying and recruiting qualified candidates for Post's exchange programs (e.g. International Visitors, Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship and Fulbright programs) by visiting various organizations and institutions to seek appropriate candidates with the leadership potential to influence public policy or opinion.

When suitable candidates are found, their biographies are transmitted to the appropriate offices in Washington, D.C. for selection. This section debriefs and processes all relevent documents for candidates before their departure for the United States of America, prepares a report after each one's return, and is the Embassy point of contact for all former exchange participants.
