Embassy Monrovia’s Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair

2011 Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair

On December 3, Embassy Monrovia hosted a Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair.  For the past four years, Embassy volunteers have been organizing two festive events in June and in December.  The Fair has become an Embassy tradition.  This time there were 42 vendors, nine more than at the previous Fair.  The organizers received many more calls from individuals who wanted to participate but due to limited space, they could not be accommodated.  There will be opportunities for them to take part in the future.  The fact that more and more artists want to participate tells us how successful the Fair has been.  The Embassy looks forward to these events to connect with our friends in the arts community and to enjoy the festive event.

Beyond the food, music, and dance, the event supports Liberian creative arts in two ways.  The artists make more money at the two semi-annual arts and crafts fair more than what they earn during the rest of the year.  They also learn from each other about quality control, packaging, displaying, and marketing their products.
