Coming to the Embassy

Immigrant and Diversity Visa Requirements

You will need to bring the following to your Diversity or Immigrant Visa appointment:

Immigrant Visa Requirements

The Applicant:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Birth Certificate
  • Marriage Certificate
  • If you and/or your spouse have been previously married, you must also present proof of the termination of such marriage(divorce(s), annulment(s) or death certificate(s).
  • Medical examination (completed by an Embassy Panel Physician).
  • Police clearence (applicants 15 years and older) from every country in which you have lived for 6 months or more after the age of 15
  • 2 front view passport size (2" x 2") photos in color on white background

The Petitioner/Sponsor:

  • Proof of citizenship or status in the United States
  • Notarized affidavit of support (I-864 Form)
  • Federal income tax return (1040 Form) for the most recent tax year
  • W-2 Form for the most recent tax year

 

Diversity Visa Requirements

The Applicant:

  • Congratulations letter
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Evidence of High School completion and WAEC results or Work experience/training
  • Medical examination
  • Police clearance (applicants 16 years and older) from every country in which you have lived for 6 months or more after the age of 16
  • 2 front view passport size (2" X 2") photos in color on white background
  • Processing fee

The Petitioner/Sponsor:

  • Proof of citizenship or status in the United States
  • Notarized affidavit of support (I-864 Form)
  • Federal Income tax return (1040 Form) for the most recent tax year
  • W-2 Form for the most recent tax year
