Changes At The American Library

 

(MONROVIA) May 13, 2008 – The American Library, located across the street from the U.S. Embassy on Mamba Point, announces changes in operations. The American Library is a research institution where Liberians can utilize our subscription for EBSCO host (an internet comprehensive professional database), 60 journal subscriptions, 4,000 book, information on studying in the United States, and get assistance in research for your office, your studies or our own personal development. The goal of the new hours is to provide more personalized service. Starting June 2, 2008 the hours of the American Library will be:

 Open to the General Public (No Appointment Required)

Monday through Friday ~ 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Open by Appointment for Research Assistance

Monday through Friday ~ 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Open for Adults/Professionals (No Appointment Required)

Saturdays ~ 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

American Library Evening Series: Each Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. the American Library offers different programs – Liberian Cultural Series, American Movie Series, American Speaker Series, etc - for free to the general public. This week we are featuring the film “The Press Secretary” in honor of World Press Freedom Day. To keep things interesting, each week the program is different!

Special Speaker Dr. Sharon T. Freeman: On May 22, 2008 the American Speaker Series will Feature Dr. Freeman who is the Founder/President, Lark-Horton Global Consulting and specializes in developing strategies to promote the growth and export development potential of small, minority, and women-owned firms in different regions of the world.

 

Note: To accommodate this important speaker and her programs, the American Library will be closed during the day until the end of May. The American Library Series in the evening will continue per the regular schedule.
